K-Electric through its press statement has assured that an emergency plan has been initiated to deal with the incoming Cyclone Ashobha in which KE's team has been put on standby to counter any devastation or breakdown if God-forbid the cyclone affects the coastal city. Providing the details, KE said the required equipment had been readied to counter any devastation if it occurred.
The cyclone may likely cause damage in the form of falling poles or electricity wires, therefore, to overcome such faults and damage, KE's team has arranged a backup plan by equipping itself with additional stock of the required equipment and keeping its maintenance team on standby. Moreover, reserve technical workforce is being deployed at all designated stations whereas strict surveillance will be carried out till the reported storm is over. These teams would be working round-the-clock in case of broken wires and poles.
Spokesperson KE said, "We have already briefed our contingency team to counter any damage in the city. Our team is well prepared to tackle any emergency situation on an immediate basis. We also ensure to co-ordinate with civil agencies on this matter for our full-fledged execution of our plan."
Meanwhile, KE has advised the citizens to take precautionary measures in the light of the possible cyclone in the city. The power utility reminded people to keep a safe distance from trees, signboards and electricity poles. Since water accumulates on streets, people are advised to watch out for manholes and downed wires.
The statement also added that cars should not be parked under electric wires, poles and signboards whereas consumers are also advised not to repair any electrical network themselves nor touch outdoor switches. In case customers want to report complaints about downed lines or any damage, they can call at 118 or lodge a complaint via company's SMS service on 8119 or on the digital platform via social media.-PR
