Prevention of Blindness (POB) Trust, a subsidiary of Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA), on Monday organised an eye camp during which free-of-cost surgeries were conducted. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Misbah-ul-Aziz, Chairman, PIMA, said: "In Pakistan, about 1.6 million people are suffering from eye diseases. Prevention of Blindness Trust (POB) has been working since July 2007 to save needy patients from permanent blindness."
He said that construction work to build a highly-equipped eye hospital in Karachi had been started. POB Trust is playing a pivotal role in holding free eye camps at national and international levels. Around 200 patients including women were treated at today's camp in Karachi. POB was established in 2007. Since then, it has conducted 120,000 successful eye surgeries.
