Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Nasirul Mulk on Monday administered oath to the recently appointed Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) Rana Asad Ameen. During May this year, Finance Division had issued a notification for removal of former AGP Muhammad Buland Akhtar Rana from office after the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) findings that Rana committed misconduct on numerous occasions.
"The President, in pursuance of Article 168(5), read with Article 209(6) of the Constitution has removed Muhammad Akhtar Buland Rana from the office of the AGP with immediate effect," the notification stated. The oath ceremony took place in the Supreme Court in the presence of Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Secretary Ministry of Finance, Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs and officers of AGP office.
