The rupee almost held the overnight levels against the dollar on the money market on Tuesday in the process of trading, they said. The rupee shed two-paisa versus the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 101.90 and Rs 101.92 respectively, they said.
INTERBANK MARKET RATES: OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee was unchanged against the dollar for buying at Rs 102.75 and it shed five-paisa for selling at Rs 102.95, however it fell sharply in relation to the euro for buying and selling at Rs 115.50 and Rs 116.50 respectively, they added.
In the second Asian trade, the dollar steadied against major counterparts, managing to regain its footing after a sharp drop against the euro on solid German data and higher Bund yields. The euro was buying $1.1281, down 0.1 percent on the day and retreating from its overnight peak of $1.1307, after better-than-expected German industrial output figures.
But Greece's ongoing talks to wrangle an agreement with its lenders capped the common currency's rise. The dollar was available against the Indian rupee at Rs 63.94, the Greenback was at 3.7605 versus the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was at 6.2049 in terms of the Chinese yuan. RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee recovered some of its earlier losses by gaining 10 paisas on the buying side (Rs 102.60) while it improved by 5 paisas on the selling side (Rs 102.85) against the dollar on the local currency market on Tuesday.
The dollar commenced trading at its overnight closing of Rs 102.70 and Rs 102.90 as its buying and selling rate, respectively. In the absence of buyers' interest, the dollar declined to Rs 102.60 and Rs 102.85 on buying and selling side. The rupee maintained a downward slide for the second consecutive day and declined against the British pound which was traded at Rs 157.00 and Rs 157.25 on buying and selling counter compared with the Monday closing of Rs 156.60 and Rs 156.85.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged on the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Tuesday.
The dollar opened at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling). Pound Sterling opened at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling).
