The National Assembly on Wednesday unanimously passed a resolution expressing deep concerns over heinous crimes being systematically committed against the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar by religious extremists. The resolution moved by Minister for Defence Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain in the Lower House of the Parliament was unanimously adopted.
The resolution strongly condemned the bloodshed of Rohingya Muslims and called upon the United Nations to intervene to stop human rights violations there. The resolution appreciates the Government of Pakistan's decision to raise the issue with the Secretary General of the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Countries to deliberate and take immediate action in this regard. It also urges all states and human rights activists, in accordance with their respective obligations and commitments under the international law to take all necessary steps to protect the peaceful community of the Rohingya Muslims being brutally extinguished in Myanmar.
The resolution further said that heinous crimes are methodically being committed against the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar by religious extremists. It commends the courage of the Rohingya Muslims who are bravely facing the entrenched genocidal campaigns against them. It takes note particularly of shameless and horrific acts including damaging properties, committing rape of women and abusing children of the Rohingya Muslims. It condemns without reservation and in the strongest terms all the said crimes, acts and omissions prejudicially affecting the human rights of a peaceful community of the Rohingya Muslims.
The House expresses its deepest sympathy and condolences to the victims of these brutalities. The House also calls upon the Government of Pakistan to fully support and provide protection to the Rohingya Muslims by utilising all means including emphasis on the Government of Myanmar to immediately abide by its obligations to protect the Rohingya Muslims.
The resolution calls upon the Government of Pakistan, in line with the said decision, to urge the United Nations to intervene in the matter under the principle of humanitarian intervention which has been adopted especially to prevent genocide of a people. The resolution expresses its utmost determination and decides to remain in touch with the matter.
