Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high-level meeting to review 'Greater Iqbal Project' and various proposals were considered in this regard. Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said 'Greater Iqbal project' was of vital importance and it would play an important role in highlighting the history and cultural heritage of Lahore. The CM directed concerned authorities to highlight prominent features of Mughal architecture in the project and a mini museum should also be set up regarding Pakistan movement so that the visitors should gain knowledge about the struggle for independence.
He said landscaping of the entire project in modern and ancient style be carried out, adding a lake would also be developed in 'Greater Iqbal Project' which would have an island as well.
He said 'Greater Iqbal Project' would comprise 125 acre of land and along the Baghi track, a mono train would also be operated. He directed that in view of future needs, planning should also be made for providing underground parking facility. He said full attention should be paid to the provision of maximum recreational facilities to the tourists.
Shahbaz Sharif said he would personally review that historic project. Members Provincial Assembly Mohsin Latif, Ramzan Sadique Bhatti, Vice Chairman PHA Iftikhar Ahmad, DG Lahore Walled City Project Kamran Lashari, Secretary Housing, Commissioner Lahore Division, CCPO Lahore, DCO Lahore, DG PHA and concerned authorities attended the meeting.
