Managing Director Karachi Water & Sewerage Board Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi has directed all the chief engineers to make water supply judicious through valve operation so that it could be supplied in every nook and corner of the city. He also issued directives to repair and activate valves right away where required. Water should be provided without gap in every area through valve operation.
Free tankers service provides water to the citizens at their doorstep in far flung areas, especially, in slum areas where water supply system does not exist, he said. MD KWSB said the complaints being received in Commissioner Office and KWSB complaint centre should be resolved on priority so that people could easily avail water supply and drainage facilities. Complaints of leakages should be immediately resolved to save water from wasting.
He said water in Hub dam could not reach the level that it could be supplied to the city. Hopefully, the level of Hub dam, where water had reached lower than dead level, would be up after more rains. However, water supply of over 65 million gallon daily was continued to district West, North Karachi, Surjani Town, Baldia Town, Lyari and other areas through alternative means. He expressed the hope that the citizens would cooperate with KWSB staff in valve operation.
Zaidi said strategy would be developed to ensure provision of water in Ramazan ul Mubarik. Free tanker service would be increased from one thousand to three thousands.
