Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Wednesday offered conditional resignation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government if the three parties alliance in the province join him to force Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to step down for impartial probe into the rigging allegations.
Talking to reporters outside the Supreme Court after attending the proceedings of the judicial commission, the PTI chief referred to the protest drive launched by Awami National Party, Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) against his party government in KP, saying that these three parties had admitted that rigging had taken place in 2013 general elections.
"If a government is supposed to resign following rigging allegations...we are ready to resign until completion of impartial probe into the recent local bodies elections. But the three parties should also join us to force Nawaz Sharif to tender resignation till free and fair inquiry into the general polls is completed", he stated. "If you want re-election...we are ready for that, we are not afraid of re-elections", Khan said, adding the political parties were actually afraid of the 'independent' National Accountability Bureau, set up by the provincial government, which will bring forth big scandals and corruption cases.
Referring to PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari's statement against military establishment, he regretted that Zardari has initiated an attack against state institutions on the pretext of safeguarding democracy. "The nation, now must get to know that the charter of democracy (CoD) was just a 'Muk Muka' between the two parties [PPP, PML-N], not for democracy but to protect each others' corruption", he maintained.
He said that before the CoD, Zardari was sent to jail not by military government but by Nawaz Nawaz and it was the PPP government which initiated Hudaibiya paper mill case against Nawaz Sharif. General Musharraf put up those cases only as according to the proceedings, he added.
"As decided under the CoD, it was Nawaz Sharif who came to rescue Zardari during PPP tenure and when we launched a protest against PML-N government, it was Zardari who came to rescue Nawaz Sharif", the PTI chief asserted. He further said that 'corrupt' political parties have united against Rangers in Karachi, adding everybody knows what is happening in Karachi. Imran Khan said, "There is synchronization between Nadra, PML-N and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). The Nadra is under immense pressure from the government."
He said that Nadra investigated four constituencies while provided a supplementary report on only one constituency, which reflects the level of pressure being exerted on Nadra by the government.
