Human rights activist and lawyer Mohammad Jibran Nasir has expressed his disapproval over Pakistan Tehreek-e Insaf's (PTI) MNA Najeeb Haroon and Hammad Azhar decision of not taking their salaries or other privileges.

PTI MNAs, Haroon from NA-256 and Azhar from NA- 126, have refused to take salaries or enjoy any other privileges. Although both have been applauded by many for their decision, Nasir believes that these MNAs should not put any similar burden on any other parliamentarian.

Nasir wrote on Twitter, “If any parliamentarian does not wish to take salary because his own assets and possessions are enough for his expenditures then I salute this virtuous gesture of yours, but you should not put this burden on any other honest parliamentarian to forgo their salary who are not financially strong”.

The founder of Fixit Pakistan Alamgir Khan also disapproved the idea. Instead, he suggested that they should take salary and put it for another use. In a tweet, Khan requested MNA Haroom to donate his monthly salary to Fixit for the betterment of Karachi.

Azhar emerged victorious from NA-126 Lahore, where he faced off Pakistan Muslim League's (PML-N) MNA Meher Ishtiaq Ahmed and Pakistan Peoples Party's (PPP) MNA Aurangzeb Shafi. On the other hand, Haroon won from Karachi’s NA-256 constituency.

Haroon had announced that they will fulfill their promises made during the election campaign and will not take a single penny as salary or benefits as a member of National Assembly. He also promised his voters that he will try his best to work for the betterment of the areas from where he is elected and will fulfill their expectations.
