Chairman Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao slammed the excessive power outages in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and called upon the government to take steps for minimizing of electricity loadshedding hours, and ending deprivation among smaller provinces.
He was addressing at the party workers at his residence here on Saturday. QWP chief said despite the surplus electricity production and cheapest rate, the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are experiencing with prolonged power outages even in the holy month of Ramazan. He said the policy was basic reason behind growing sense of deprivation among smaller provinces, particularly terrorism affected Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Sherpao said despite the directives of Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif, the unannounced electricity loadshedding of 16 to 18 hours being carried out in the province. He said the practice was adversely disbursed routine life of people in the sacred month of Ramazan.
QWP chief said it was completely unjust with people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which couldn't be acceptable at any cost. "Why Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was targeted for excessive power loadshedding", he asked. He said the rates of electricity and loadshedding are much higher in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as compared to other provinces in the country. Therefore, he urged government to take measures at every level for extending maximum relief to masses in the holy month of Ramazan, and to immediate stop excessive electricity loadshedding, particularly during Sehr, Iftar, and Taraveeh timings.
