The National Assembly on Monday approved as many as 49 demands worth of Rs 272.3 billion to meet expenditures of various ministries/divisions and departments during the year ending June 30, 2016. Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar moved 49 demands in the House for approval.
The opposition has presented more than 1,515 cut motion on the demands of various ministries/divisions and departments but they could not be presented as it (Opposition) has staged walkout in protest from the house against loadshedding in the country, particularly in Karachi. The House approved the demands with majority vote and rejected all the cut motions in the absence of opposition.
The House approved 22 demands relating to the Cabinet Division, 11 demands of Interior Ministry and four demands of each Ministry of Communication, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources respectively. The Finance Minister presented demands worth of Rs 110.53 billion of Cabinet and Establishment Division. The demand of Rs 5.37 billion of Cabinet Division, Rs 5.72 billion other expenditure of Cabinet Division were approved.
The House approved the demand of Rs 38.91 billion to meet the expenditure of cabinet division during next financial year while Rs 290 million to meet expenditure for Emergency relief and repatriation. The approved demands of Rs 15.32 billion of capital Administration and Development Division, Rs 526 million of Federal Public Service Commission, Rs 3.4 billion for Aviation Division, Rs 5.082 billion for Airport Security Force, Rs 969 million for Meteorology and Rs 16.36 billion for Capital Administration and Development Division.
The House approved demand of Rs 4.3 billion for establishment division, Rs 526 million for Federal Public Service Division (FPSC), Rs 43 million for National Security Division, Rs 842 million for Prime Minister Office, Rs 229 million for Board of Investment (BoI) and Rs 62 million for PM's inspection commission.
Similarly, the National Assembly accorded approval to demand of Rs 38.31 billion to meet the expenditure of Atomic Energy Commission during 2015-16, Rs 87 million for Stationary and Printing, Rs 7.64 billion for Communication Division, Rs 15.317 billion for Post Office and Rs 14.91 billion for Foreign Affairs. The House approved the demands of Rs 22.95 billion of Communication Division including Rs 4.82 billion other expenditures, Rs 15.3 billion of Pakistan Post Office Department. The National Assembly also approved Rs 14.9 billion of Foreign Affairs including Rs 1.88 billion of other expenditure.
The National Assembly approved total demands of Rs 88.25 billion for Interior Ministry including Rs 6.737 billion for Islamabad, Rs 1.416 billion for Passport Organisation, Rs 39.415 billion for Civil Armed Forces, Rs 7.606 billion for Frontier Constabulary, Rs 1.674 billion for Pakistan Coast Guards, Rs 16.968 billion for Pakistan Rangers and Rs 2.22 billion for Narcotics Control. The House also accorded approval to the demand of Rs 1.82 billion pertaining to Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources, Rs 5.2 billion for National Food Security and Research Division. The House also approved two demands of Rs 29.25 billion of Water and Power Division and Rs 800 million of Suparco.
