Mozilla asks users for help in redesigning its logo

Famous search engine Mozilla is planning to redesign its Firefox logo but requires a little help from its users too in order to choose the best one.

As per the search engine Mozilla, it’s time for change as it is redesigning its classic Firefox logo. However, instead of one defined logo, the company is starting from square one since the company believes that the ‘fox with a flaming tail doesn’t offer enough design tools to represent this entire product family’.

For this, the company is seeking help from its users by creating an entire list of icons fitting its various ventures from mobile to VR browsers, to screenshot and file sharing tools and asking users to comment for the best one.

Firefox ups its game with major upgrade

The company has already uploaded some of the possible options on its blog post and requested users to comment for feedback. Mozilla designers wrote, “As an icon, that fast fox with a flaming tail doesn’t offer enough design tools to represent this entire product family.”

The company shared two ‘design system approaches’ to get feedback. Both the approaches offer a ‘masterbrand’ icon that will contain all of its products along with 11 auxiliary logos. The masterbrand logo will represent the brand as a whole, while the other secondary logos will represent its standalone apps.

“Each individual icon will undergo several rounds of refinement, or may change entirely, between now and their respective product launches. Our focus at this point is on the system,” the company said.

However, while asking for users’ comments, Mozilla also warns that these created logos are ‘still a work of fictions and the icons are not final’. The company informs that the branding shift will come together ‘over the next few months’ based on user feedback, formal user testing, and ‘our product knowledge and design sensibilities’.
