Floods hit Russian Olympic city of Sochi

Torrential rain on Thursday triggered flooding on the streets of the Russian resort town of Sochi which hosted the 2014 Winter Olympics, forcing evacuations and disrupting travel. Authorities declared a state of emergency in the Black Sea city, deploying rescue workers from other cities to help cope with the disaster, the emergencies ministry said.
Authorities said some families had to be evacuated but no casualties were reported. City officials also warned that a tornado may form over the Black Sea. The floods caused severe disruption to train services and air travel in the city of 400,000, with Sochi's airport facing delays, its operator Basel Aero said.
