Pakistan Embassy in Berlin, Germany organized a two-day exhibition of Islamic calligraphic artwork by a famous Pakistani artist Anjum Ayaz. The exhibition was inaugurated jointly by the ambassadors of Malaysia, Indonesia, Bahrain, and Jordan based in Berlin, said a message received here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan ambassador to Germany, Syed Hasan Javed said that history of Arabic calligraphy in Pakistan dated back to arrival of Arabs.
One of the oldest surviving specimens of Arabic calligraphy was found in Thatta, Sindh where several Arab families had settled permanently after the Arab conquest of the region, he added.
After the inauguration, the ambassadors and diplomats of the Muslim countries based in Berlin along with other guests viewed the calligraphic artwork and appreciated the skills of the artist.
