CIMA, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, has elected Myriam Madden FCMA, CGMA as President for the forthcoming year following the annual general meeting on 29 June. Myriam is an experienced Director of Finance, specialising in finance and operational transformation across a broad range of organisations in the public sector, financial services and internationally in global bluechip companies.
Ms Madden will preside over an important period for CIMA as the organisation continues to promote management accounting in business. CIMA will be focusing on building strong links with business and other stakeholders and creating value in major cities around the world. It will also continue to build on its joint venture with the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) to establish the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation as the global quality standard for the profession.
On her election, Myriam Madden said: "As President, I am excited by CIMA's impact in contributing to the success of businesses and their boards in all the major global cities. CIMA has a valuable asset in its global community of students and members - one of my ambitions is to galvanise them to be confident advocates for CIMA and the management accounting profession. CIMA's strategic initiatives will be more successful if they reflect the enthusiasm, energy and diverse ideas of our members and students."
Ms Madden has held global governance roles at CIMA since 2007 which included roles as Deputy and Vice President, chair of the global Members' Services Committee and a board member of the Audit and Risk committee.
