Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Co-ordination Committee member Amir Khan was released from Karachi Central Jail on Tuesday after fulfilling legal requirements and submission of surety of Rs 1 million. On Monday, an Anti-terrorism Court granted bail to him in a case pertaining to instigating terrorism and harbouring criminals. The ATC-2 had ordered Khan to pay Rs 1 million in surety bonds which was submitted on Tuesday.
The court had also ordered that Khan cannot leave the country without permission. The judge told Khan that his bail was approved due to faulty investigation into the allegations against him. Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Aamir Khan was welcomed on his arrival at party headquarters after being released from the Central jail.
MQM Co-ordination Committee Incharge and its members, members of the national and provincial assemblies and party activists welcomed him while showering rose petals on him. Speaking on the occasion, Khan said that Altaf Hussain and MQM were working for the stability of the country and neither the party nor the love for Altaf Hussain could be crushed through operation.
"We were loyal to Altaf Hussain in the past and shall remain so in future also," he said. He said that MQM activist Waqas Shah was killed during the Rangers raid and the operations against the party had also been expedited after that raid. "False allegations are being levelled against us but we want to tell everybody that we are more united than ever under the leadership of Altaf Hussain and shall remain so," he said. Speaking on the occasion, MQM leader Kanwar Naveed Jamil said that like Aamir Khan other party activists would also come out from this difficult phase.
