Mini vans, sport utility vehicles, mini cargo vans: Additional duty imposed on import of new localised auto parts

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has imposed additional customs duty on the import of new localised auto parts of mini vans, sport utility vehicles, mini cargo vans and 3 wheeler cargo loader from July 1, 2015. The FBR has amended SRO 693(I)/2006 through an SRO.609(I)/2015 issued here on Tuesday. S.R.O.693(I)/2006 deals with the imposition of additional customs-duty on the import of goods. Through amendments in S.R.O.693(I)/2006, the items subjected to the additional customs duty has been revised from July 1, 2015.
On the recommendation of Engineering Development Board (EDB), Pakistan Customs Tariff (PCT) codes for new localized auto parts of five vehicles ie, mini vans, sport utility vehicles, mini cargo vans and 3 wheeler cargo loader have been created/ amended in new tariff regime. These new localized auto parts have also been included in SRO 693(I)/2006 for levy of additional customs duty, FBR added.
