The district administration continued its crackdown against beggars in all nine towns of the city and rounded up 42 beggars from various areas here on Thursday. Special teams of Social Welfare Department during raids on different main roads of the city captured as many as 42 beggars from Laskmi, The Mall, Collage Road, Umir Chowk, Moon Market and other areas.
All of them have been sent to Ehdi and Subhani Welfare Trusts. Lahore District Co-ordination Officer Muhammad Usman was reported to have reviewed the performance of 104 Price Control Magistrates working on the implementation of officially notified rates of essential commodities and tracing out violations of overcharging in open markets.
The magistrates received show cause notices to explain their position in three days. He also urged the magistrates to visit their areas by themselves instead of sending their subordinates.
He then visited Ramazan bazaars in Model Town and Township to check quality and the prices of essential commodities and went on different stalls and talked with customers.
