President, Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum (PBIF), Mian Zahid Hussain, has said that increased co-operation between civil and military leadership is a good omen, which is imperative to boost economic activities in the country. He lauded the military and political leadership for announcing general amnesty for militants willing to surrender.
Speaking to media persons on Thursday, he said that the situation in Balochistan was improving, which had deteriorated after the killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti. "The vision of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik and Commander of Southern Command Lieutenant-General Nasser Khan Janjua will transform Balochistan into a peaceful province," he observed.
Hussain said that immediate steps for rehabilitation of those who laid down their arms was very important. He was of the view that bringing Baloch militants in mainstream would foil all conspiracies to destabilise Pakistan. The veteran business leader lauded the army for preferring political solution to Balochistan issue. He further said that the US, ADB, WB etc had always pushed Pakistan to import gas from Turkmenistan, which he added was not viable due to poor law and order situation in Afghanistan. Similarly, he said that projects like Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline, Gwadar Port and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor could never be beneficial unless there was peace in Balochistan.
Hussain said that the CM Balochistan had ensured a change due to full backing of the Prime Minister.
