The paramilitary Rangers on Thursday arrested as many as 16 workers of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) for alleged forceful collection of Fitra/ donations from the residents of Rizvia Society, here on late Thursday night. The spokesman for Rangers said that at least 1,000 Fitra receipts and cash worth Rs 31,500 were also recovered during the course of action.
"We will not allow any political or religious party to collect donations or Fitra by force," said a press release.
Rangers appealed to citizens to report at Rangers Helpline 1101 in case of any incident of extortion of forcible collection of donations, ensuring that Rangers would provide protection to the public.
