The Karachi Port handled 140,549 tonnes of cargo comprising 120,233 tonnes of import cargo and 20,316 tonnes of export cargo including 4,251 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 120,233 tonnes comprised of 32,869 tonnes of containerised cargo; 14 tonnes of general cargo; 6,386 tonnes of bulk cargo: 450 tonnes of coal; 5,936 tonnes of DAP and 80,964 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 20,316 tonnes comprised of 19,778 tonnes of containerised cargo and 538 tonnes of cement.
As many as 4,251 containers comprising of 2,277 containers import and 1,974 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 963 of 20's and 601 of 40's loaded while 2 of 20's and 55 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 509 of 20's and 320 of 40's loaded containers while 257 of 20's and 284 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There was one ship namely APL Arabia carrying containers sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. PAC Aries, Mare Caribicum, Quest, Thor Manelaus and BBC Everest carrying containers, fertilizer, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were five ships namely Hanjin Indigo, Sentinel Spirit, MH Adventure, Al Mahboobah and BBC Everest carrying containers, oil tanker, cement,chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday.
There were five vessels viz. Hyundai Jakarta, Wan Hai-516, Uni Premier, JO Redwood and King Pelipe carrying containers, mogas and coal respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while seven vessels viz. Captain Costas, Sudair, Sino Bridge, Bochem Chennai, Anemos, Teng Hang and Audrey SW carrying containers, chemical, coal and steel respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
