National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi on Friday arrested five employees of Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Sajjawal for involvement in embezzlement of Rs 101 million in TMA Sajjawal. Those arrested were included Iqbal Qasim Junejo and Muhammad Ali Shah, Ex-Accountant/TO Finance, Agha Jahangir, Muhammad Wasif Malik and Orangzeb Magsi, Ex-Town officers.
The accused persons will be produced before the Administrative Judge, Accountability Court Karachi for physical remand on Saturday. The action was taken on a complaint received against the officers/officials of TMA Sajjawal that they collectively embezzled a huge amount of TMA Sajjawal by allocation of funds to dummy contractors against fictitious schemes. During the course of inquiry and subsequent investigation, criminal role of the accused persons was established, the NAB said.
