The SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industries in partnership with Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom organised a special session with officials from South Asian countries, during their visit to Pakistan for series of meetings ie special meeting of Customs and Commerce authorities on verification mechanism relating to Rules of Origin under SAPTA and SAFTA, special meeting of SAFTA committee of experts for further tariff liberalisation and reduction in the sensitive lists (to consider matters relating to proposal of Bhutan, India, Maldives and Pakistan), eleventh meeting of Expert Group on SAARC Agreement on Trade in Services (SATIS), third meeting of the Working Group on Reduction in the Sensitive Lists under SAFTA were held in Islamabad.
L Savithri, Director (ETF) and SC Sharma from SAARC Secretariat (Kathmandu) was also attended the meetings. Muhammad Iqbal Tabish, Secretary General welcomed the distinguished guests on behalf of SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industries and gave the detailed presentation on SAARC CCI on the occasion. Zubair Ahmed Malik, EC Member SAARC CCI and member Technical Committee SAARC CCI said that it is time to open the doors widen for each other and develop together for shared prosperity and in greater benefit of the poor communities of the region.-PR
