Italian Ambassador in Pakistan Adriano Chiodi Cianfarani called on Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here on Tuesday. Matters of mutual interest, promotion of co-operation in different sectors including energy and strengthening of bilateral relations were discussed during the meeting. Talking on the occasion, the CM said that there are strong friendly relations between Pakistan and Italy. He said that it is essential to further promote relations and maximum trade delegations should be exchanged between both the countries.
The CM said that Italy has special expertise in generating energy from solar power and other alternative resources. He said that cooperation of Italy will be welcomed in energy sector. He said that the supply of electricity is continuing through 100MW solar power project which was completed by Punjab government with its own resources at Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park in Bahawalpur. He said that work on first solar power project has been started in Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Bahawalpur under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and solar project of 50MW will start producing electricity from August 14, 2015.
