After widespread monsoon rains in upper catchment areas of the rivers, the mighty Indus at Tarbela, river Kabul at Nowshera, river Jhelum at Mangla and river Chenab at Marala Headworks near Sialkot were in medium/low flood on Tuesday. According to 7th July rivers flows and reservoirs level report of Wapda, the position of the river inflows and outflows at Tarbela, Mangla and Chashma along with the reservoirs levels and the barrages was as under:
'Rivers: Indus at Tarbela: Inflows 241900 cusecs (low flood) and outflows 112400 cusecs, Kabul at Nowshera: Inflows 81300 cusecs (medium flood) and Outflows 81300 cusecs, Jhelum at Mangla: Inflows 71100 cusecs (low flood) and Outflows 60,000 cusecs, Chenab at Marala: Inflows 90700 cusecs (low flood) and outflows 57400 cusecs
Barrages: Jinnah: Inflows 182200 cusecs and outflows 173700 cusecs, Chashma: Inflows 214800 cusecs and outflows 207600 cusecs, Taunsa: Inflows 179600 cusecs and outflows 153100 cusecs, Panjnad: Inflows 42900 cusecs and outflows 28000 cusecs, Guddu: Inflows 166900 cusecs and outflows 131600 cusecs, Sukkur: Inflows 128000 cusecs and Outflows 72100 cusecs, Kotri: Inflows 62800 cusecs and outflows 22100 cusecs.
Synoptic Situation: Well marked seasonal low lies over north Balochistan and its adjoining areas with its trough extending north-east-wards strong Monsoon currents are penetrating into central and upper parts of the country and likely to continue with variable intensity during next few days. Severe weather warning: Widespread rain-thundershower (with scattered heavy falls in Gujranwala, Sialkot, Norowal, Lahore, Sheikpura, Kasur, Okara districts) during next 24 hours. Heavy falls may generate urban flooding in Lahore, Gujranwala and Sialkot cities.
Met Office Weather forecast for today. More widespread rain thundershower is expected in Hazara, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, D.G.Khan divisions, Islamabad, and Kashmir. Scattered rain thundershower in KP (Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan, D.I.Khan), Punjab(Sargodha, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Multan divisions), while isolated in Malakand, Zhob, Sibbi, Quetta, Sukkar, Larkana, Hyderabad divisions. Isolated heavy falls is also expected in Rawalpindi/Islamabad, Lahore, Gujranwala and D.G.Khan divisions.
