The Lahore High Court has overruled an objection on the bail application of Ayyan Ali by the Registrar Office, directing it to fix the plea before a division bench. The Registrar office had refused to fix the bail petition for being no-maintainable, saying the court had already turned down a similar petition.
But Justice Abdul Sami Khan allowed the petition. The counsel argued that the petition was, in fact, against the order of the customs appellate bench of the high court that had dismissed the earlier petition and that a division bench could hear the appeal. Justice Abdul Sami Khan on June 29 had dismissed a bail petition of Ayyan Ali facing the money laundering charges. The model has been behind the bars since her arrest on March 14 at the Islamabad Airport.
