The National Assembly Standing Committee on Housing and Works expressed displeasure for not providing comprehensive list with regard to allotments of government accommodations made to government employees from the General Waiting List (GWL) and under different rules of Accommodation Allocation Rules, 2002; and directed that category- wise separate lists be prepared mentioning the reasons of entitlement of each house.
This direction was given by the Committee in a meeting held on Wednesday at Parliament House, Islamabad. Haji Muhammad Akram Ansari, MNA/Chairman, Standing Committee on Housing and Works presided over the meeting. Earlier, Estate Officer (EO) told the Committee that, during the last one year r 900 residential accommodations have been allotted to government servants.
Current policy for allotment of government accommodations in the light of the Supreme Court's decision is being followed under which allotments from GWL are being issued to the senior most government servants on the basis of seniority from the date of their registration with Estate Office. Secondly, allotments of the pool accommodation on Mj0 Foreign Affairs, PIMS and lSI are being made by the Estate Office on the recommendations of relevant departments. Thirdly, under rule 15, allotments are being made by the Estate Office to the family members/widows after completing all codal formalities, the Estate Officer further added. The Committee also raised the issue of posting of Estate Officer on deputation from Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS), and asked the Secretary Housing and Works that a senior most officer of Estate Office be posted as EO.
Besides, the Committee was also briefed by Director General, Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation(FGEHF), on the implementation status of recommendations made by the Committee on 15th April, 2015, on Bhara Kahu Housing Scheme. The Committee was apprised that Consent Letters along with the brochures have been sent to the bona fide successful applicants on the basis of "first come first served", and on the receipt of response on Consent Letters along with duly filled applications available in the brochures, applicants shall be issued formal Provisional Offer Letters.
On the recommendation of the Committee, the Executive Committee of the Foundation has recommended to enhance the quota of employees of Constitutional Bodies from 4 percent to 6 percent in the prospective housing schemes; and summary to this effect would be sent to the Prime Minister for approval, DG further told.-PR
