The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday upheld an order passed by the city managers against the construction of cinema house in Safa Gold Mall at Jinnah Super Market of Sector F-7. A single member bench comprising Justice Aamir Farooq ruled that the Capital Development Authority's (CDA) letter against the construction of cinema house was lawful.
On April 23, 2015 the authority directed the management of Safa Gold Mall to suspend the construction of the cinema as it would be the second cinema house in the federal capital; the first one is in Centaurus Mall and operational for a few years. Safa Gold Mall's management challenged the directives before the IHC saying that CDA in 2012 allowed the construction of the cinema on the top floor of the building. Justice Farooq observed that CDA's action was in accordance with the findings and recommendations of the inquiry constituted by CDA chairman.
