The Karachi Port handled 105,432 tonnes of cargo comprising 91,193 tonnes of import cargo and 14,239 tonnes of export cargo including 3,864 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 91,193 tonnes comprised of 40,677 tonnes of containerised cargo; 29,490 tonnes of bulk cargo: 23,880 tonnes of coal; 3,395 tonnes of DAP; 2,215 tonnes of scrap and 21,026 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 14,239 tonnes comprised of 13,899 tonnes of containerised cargo and 340 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 3,864 containers comprising of 2,831 containers import and 1,033 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,092 of 20's and 794 of 40's loaded while 13 of 20's and 69 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 470 of 20's and 118 of 40's loaded containers while 219 of 20's and 54 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were ten ships namely Commodore, Kota Kamil, Hyundai Jakarta, Leopard, Genmar Consul, Iyo, Quest, Tubarao, Dicle Deniz and Oceanic Coral carrying containers, oil tankers, DAP, steel, coal and chemical respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels viz. YM Excellance, Northern General, Dtadt Marburg, Oceanic Coral, Intrepid Republic, Teatralny Bridge, Mino and Bulk Guatemala carrying containers, oil tankers and soyabean meal respectively currently at the berths. There was one ship namely KMTC Mumbai carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday. There were three vessels viz. Express Padma, Irenes Wisdom and PAC Aries carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while six vessels viz. Hyundai Confidence, Al Farahidi, MT Karachi, Urania, Bhairavi and Mu Dan Song carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
