The Met Office on Saturday forecast widespread rain with thundershowers for upcountry in the next 24 hours. Rain at scattered places in upper Sindh, parts of Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan has also been also forecast with scattered heavy falls in Kashmir, Islamabad and upper Punjab.
Rain is expected in Sibbi, Zhob, Kalat, Nasirabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore and Hazara divisions as well as in Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Partly cloudy/cloudy and windy weather is expected in Karachi with chances of light rain/drizzle during night and morning hours. Temperature is likely to range between 33 degrees Celsius and 35 degrees Celsius with maximum 75 percent humidity.
Dust-thunderstorm/rain is likely at scattered places in Sukkur and Larkana divisions. Light rain/drizzle is expected along Sindh coast. Hot/very hot and dry weather is likely to prevail elsewhere in the province, the office said. Highest temperature in the last 24 hours was recorded in Sibbi, Moenjodaro and Rohri with 45 degrees, Dalbandin, Shaheed Benazirabad 44 degrees each, Larkana, Sukkur, Dadu, Nokkundi 43 degrees each, Turbat and Rahim Yar Khan 42 degrees each.
Maximum rain received in Islamabad (Golra 78 mm, Bokra 71 mm, Z.P 1 mm, Saidpur 24 mm), Bahawalnagar 63 mm, Rawalpindi (Chaklala 60 mm, Shamsabad 42 mm), Bahawalpur City 49 mm, Noorpur Thal 39 mm each, Bahawalpur Airport 37 mm, Sahiwal 37 mm, Malamjaba 36 mm, Dir 32 mm, Barkhan 27 mm, Okara 18 mm, Hunza 15 mm, Garhi Dupatta 11 mm, Chakwal and Skardu 10 mm each in the last 24 hours.
Widespread rain-thundershower occurred in Islamabad and Punjab, scattered places in Kashmir, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and at the isolated places in Zhob and Sukkur divisions during the last 24 hours, the office said. "Seasonal low lies over north Balochistan with its trough extending south-eastwards. Monsoon currents are penetrating into central and upper parts of the country and likely to continue during Saturday/Sunday. A shallow westerly wave is prevailing over upper parts of the country and likely to persist during next 24 hours," it added.
