China attaches high priority to early implementation of economic corridor: envoy
Chinese ambassador Sun Weidong on Saturday said his country attaches high priority to early implementation of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Project (CPECP) since it provides equal benefits to all parts of the country. During his visit to Bodhi Cotton Gining Company and Multan Cotton Research Station on second-day of his city's tour, he said China has undertaken a number of projects in Pakistan for its fast socio-economic growth.
Ambassador Sun had hectic engagements in the city, that included visit to Bagasse Power Plant. His visit was highly significant in the context of CPECP and its implementation in different parts of the country. He was given warm welcome during the visit by the local businessmen and the officials. His personal interest in the development of local industry was highly appreciated. The ambassador hoped CPECP will be another milestone further deepening the all-weather friendship and all-round cooperation and build up the China-Pakistan community of shared destiny. "We share the same dream of achieving economic growth, social progress, people's well-being and national peace and prosperity," he added.
Earlier, during his meeting with Commission Multan, he spoke about the China's commitment of further helping Pakistan in its fast development, particularly in energy and communication. China, he announced would launch various projects for the promotion of cotton seed locally. They would also set up here technical training centres keeping in view local industry needs and to impart training to youth.
About the CPECP, the Chinese envoy further said that it would be a gateway not only for progress and prosperity of both the countries but also for the region. He said located on economic corridor Multan has great importance and added that his country would initiate various projects to promote local cotton and mango industry by strengthening infrastructure. He called for extending ties between two countries at local government level for generating swift economic activity and employment opportunities. The envoy announced to provide scholarships to five students hailing from Multan at post graduate level to best universities of China.
