Prices of most of the essential kitchen items witnessed a mix trend as vegetables prices decline, while fruit prices registered an increase and prices of non-perishable items remained stable during last week as compared to the preceding week, reveals a survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Saturday.
The survey observed a sharp reduction in vegetable as onions registered an increase of Rs 20 per 5 kg in wholesales market from Rs 240 per 5 kg to Rs 200 per kg, and in retail market the commodity is being sold in the range of Rs 45-50 per kg and normal quality potatoes prices reduced by Rs 20 per 5 kg in the wholesale market from Rs 120 per 5 kg to Rs 100 per 5 kg, while in retail market it is being sold at Rs 25 per kg while good quality potatoes price reduced by Rs 10 per 5 kg in wholesale market from Rs 150 per 5 kg to Rs 140 per 5 kg while in retail market the commodity is available at Rs 30 per kg against Rs 35 per kg.
Spinach is being sold at Rs 25 per kg, tinda price reduced by Rs 20 per kg from Rs 60 per kg to Rs 40 per kg, Shimla Mirch (capsicum) price witnessed a reduction of Rs 30 per kg from Rs 80 per kg to Rs 50 per kg, okra price reduced by Rs 20 per kg from Rs 60 per kg to Rs 40 per kg and Karela price reduced by Rs 15 per kg from Rs 50 per kg to Rs 35 per kg.
Cauliflower price witness a reduction of Rs 10 per kg from Rs 70 per kg to Rs 60 per kg and cabbage price also decreased by Rs 10 per kg from Rs 40 per kg to Rs 30 per kg. Peas price witnessed a reduction of Rs 30 per kg from Rs 160 per kg to 130 per kg, brinjal price reduced by Rs 25 per kg from Rs 50 per kg to Rs 25 per kg and bean price decreased by Rs 10 per kg from Rs 80 per kg to Rs 70 per kg.
Ginger price reduced by Rs 80 per kg from Rs 300 per kg to Rs 220 per kg and garlic price reduced by Rs 100 per kg from Rs 250 per kg to Rs 130 per kg. During the week under review tomatoes prices in wholesales market further reduced by Rs 20 per 5 kg from Rs 220 to Rs 180 per 5 kg, while in retail market the commodity is being sold at Rs 40-45 per kg against Rs 50 per kg last week. Arvi is being sold at Rs 80 per kg, Tori at Rs 50 per kg, carrot at Rs 50 per kg and loki kadu at Rs 40 per kg.
Meanwhile the prices of beef, mutton, pulses, wheat flour, rice, spices, tea, packed milk, fresh milk, eggs, sugar, cooking oil/ghee and other non perishable essential kitchen item prices have witnessed no change. The survey observed that the prices of the entire range of fruits during the week witnessed an increase as grapes are being sold at Rs 250 per kg against Rs 200 per kg, watermelon is being sold at Rs 20 per kg and while melon at Rs 40 per kg. Good quality local banana is being sold in the range of Rs 120 to Rs 150 per dozen, while normal quality banana is available at in the range of Rs 80 to Rs 120 per dozen, Indian banana is being sold at Rs 200 per dozen against Rs 160 per dozen last week.
Prices of the different qualities of mango have registered an increase of Rs 20 to Rs 30 per kg during the week as good quality chonsa is being sold at Rs 120 per kg against Rs 100 per kg and Sindhhari at Rs 140 against Rs 110 per kg, peach price increased by Rs 30 per kg from Rs 120 per kg to Rs 150 per kg, good quality apples are being sold at Rs 250 per kg and normal quality apples are available at Rs 100 per kg.
