Engineer-in-Chief Pakistan Army Lieutenant General Khalid Asghar has said that financing of Hyderabad-Karachi Motorway (M-9) project by Pakistani banks is a historic step and participation of private, national and international institutions in road infrastructure, energy and other projects will be further expanded.
He said that investment in road infrastructures has witnessed a tremendous response that will pave the way for implementing more projects at the national level, and we have secured our future by laying the foundation of strategic partnership by striking BOT deals between NHA and FWO, the chief guest said. "By completing the financial close of Hyderabad-Karachi Motorway (M-9) in record 100 days is indeed praiseworthy" he said.
He expressed these views while addressing an impressive ceremony held in honour of officials who prepared the financial documents of Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway Project. On this occasion, Chairman NHA Shahid Ashraf Tarar was the guest of honour, whereas other distinguished participants included officials of NHA, FWO and scheduled national banks.
Tarar said that it is FWO's distinction that it acknowledges the services of those involved in completion of projects carried out in rugged and inhospitable terrain. By completing the financial close of Karachi-Hydrabad Motorway (M-9) in 100 days is a remarkable achievement, he said. Earlier, Director General FWO Major General Muhammad Afzal in his welcome address said that FWO has made its mark as the organisation specialising in BOT projects.
