The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has urged the City District Government Lahore to resolve the issues including rallies, sit-ins on the Mall Road, confronted to the business community on priority basis to ensure smooth running of businesses. LCCI Senior Vice President Mian Nauman Kabir said this while talking to the Commissioner of Lahore Abdullah Khan Sumbal here at his office. LCCI Executive Committee Members Raja Hamid Riaz, Kamal Mahmood Amjad Mian and Rizwan Akhter Shamsi were also present on the occasion.
Mian Nauman Kabir said that Lahore has become a hub of trade and economic activities but a number of issues including traffic mess, lack of parking facility and violation of rules and regulations are hampering the growth of trade and industry. He urged the Commissioner Lahore to ensure implementation of ban on protests at the Mall Road as it is hitting the trade and economic activities hard.
He said that businesses of traders of the Mall Road have come to a grinding halt due to protests and rallies which are a clear violation of ban imposed on such activities. Mian Nauman Kabir said though the government had banned the protests on the Mall but non-implementation was a big problem. He said that traffic mess is also causing undue damage to the trade and economic activities in the city.
City District Government would have to evolve a plan to resolve these issues at the earliest, he said. Abdullah Khan Sumbal said that Nasir Bagh would be allocated for rallies and protests and ban on protests at the Mall should be implemented strictly.
