Members of Bheel community, recently freed from a private jail of landlord, staged a protest for the protection of their lives outside Hyderabad Press Club on Wednesday. A large number of people from Bheel Community and others including Co-ordinator HRCP Hyderabad Dr Ashothama participated in the protest. Some days back, 29 family members of Bheel community from Village Bago Wadhani near Tando Adam were freed on the court order, detained allegedly by local landlord Islam son of Khan Muhammad Wat.
People freed from the private jail included Shrimati Kasobi, Gori, Samina, Rejo, Sardaro, Moro, Krishan, Ramesh and others. Protesters said that local landlord Islam was not maintaining their accounts and if anyone of them asked for accounts, he assaulted them.
He forcefully detained them in his private jail where they were allegedly forced to work without any wages, he told the media outside the HPC. They were declared free after the verdict of the court issued on July 12, they said. Now the landlord is threatening us, resultantly, they are not feeling safe, they said. They appealed to higher authority to provide them protection and also bring the landlord to justice.
