Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has said that the provincial government announced financial assistance of Rs 1million for flood-hit Chitral was not sufficient to mitigate sufferings of Chitarlis and demanded to increase the assistance to carryout relief activities effectively.
This was stated by JI provincial ameer, Professor Ibrahim Khan while addressing at a news conference at Al-markaz-e-Islami here on Tuesday. He said the federal and provincial governments to mobilise all departments and possible resources to swiftly carryout relief activities in flood-affected parts of the country. JI provincial ameer said his party will not leave alone the people of Chitral in their time testing situation. He said JI and Al-Khidmat Foundation have been initiated relief activities in flood-hit areas in district Chitral.
Flanked by JI provincial general secretary, Shabbir Ahmad Khan, Al-Khidmat Foundation provincial president Noorul Haq, and information secretary, Israrullah Advocate, Professor Ibrahim said the party has asked the Senior Minister for local government and rural development, Inayatullah Khan to visit Chitral on Wednesday (today) and monitor the relief operation of Al-Khidmat foundation there. Besides the distribution of food and non-food items among flood affectees, he said Al-Khidmat Foundation has also extended financial assistance to them.
Noorul Haq said the foundation volunteers were remained busy in relief operation during Eid holidays. Besides, provision of food assistance, he said medical camps have established at four spots in flood-hit Chitral. He said the tents, sheds, quills, and food and non-food items have so far transported to Chitral by the foundation. He said the foundation is also financially assisted to those communities, which were restoration irrigation and water supply channel on self-help basis.
The foundation, he said will provide financial support those reconstruction and rehabilitation of damaged houses in Chitral. Yesterday, he said a truck loaded with food items, has transported from Peshawar to Chitral. He said the relief activities are expanding and strengthening in the flood-affected areas in Chitral.
