Pakistan Rangers Sindh, on Wednesday produced Qamar Masoor, a member of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) co-ordination committee, before Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) and informed it about his 90-day preventive detention for questioning. The Rangers' personnel, along with their counsel produced, Mansoor, a former provincial minister, before the court amid tight security. The rangers' law officer stated that they had credible information about Mansoor that he is involved arranging and facilitating inflammatory speeches.
On the other hand Mansoor in his statement pleaded the court that he is suffering from back pain for 17 years; therefore he needed medication. The court directed the rangers' authorities to submit a medical report by 27th July. Qamar Mansoor and in charge MQM co-ordination committee, Kaifulwara were picked up on wee hours of 17th July from MQM headquarters, Nine-Zero. Later, Kaifulwara was released on the assurance that he would cooperate with the paramilitary force and report it after Eid-ul-Fitr.
Earlier on Monday the judicial Magistrate handed over Mansoor to rangers on three-day transit remand as ATC was closed due to Eid holidays. The court allowed the paramilitary force to detain the suspect for 90 days for interrogation, considering legal provisions section 11EEEE (1) of ATA. The paramilitary force has the authority to detain suspects for the period of three moths for questioning under section 11EEEE (1) of ATA.
