-A parliamentarian has reacted to a string of claims by some politicians opposing his PMLN-governing party, said that it is good for "those criticising the Punjab government who have written a new chapter of nepotism, loot and corruption". In his response to a statement by former Punjab CM Pervaiz Elahi, Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri, who is a party leader and also a Member of the Punjab Assembly, sarcastically said, "Pervaiz Elahi should say first: how many dams did he construct and what role did he play for the Kalabagh Dam during his black era?".
The League politician claimed that the former CM was "powerful during the dictatorial era". "If he wanted, he could construct the dam during his era, but instead he was engaged in looting the Punjab Bank". About the former CM's claim on the recent flash floods, the League politician launched his attack, claiming that the former never refrained from using flood affectees for his "vested interests".
He went on, "Pervaiz Elahi and his party used to give pieces of advice to their guru, Pervaiz Musharaf, [during 2004-08] to prolong the govt but it would have been better had they forced the dictator to build dams to protect the country from flood devastations.
