The PML-N Sindh Chapter has expressed serious concerns over the poor arrangements made by the Sindh government to cope with expected flood and heavy rains in the province. President PML-N Sindh, Ismail Rahu and General Secretary Senator Nihal Hashmi said this while speaking a press conference here on Sunday after their visit to Protective Bunds of Indus River.
Ismail Rahu said that on the special directives of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, they were visiting the protective bunds to review the situation of flood and rains.
Expressing serious concerns over the unsatisfactory arrangements to cope with expected situation after flood and rain, he said that funds of billion rupees were released to the Sindh government but major part of them had been embezzled.
He said that the Sindh government did not learn any lesson from past disasters occurred due to floods in 2010 and 2011 in the province and termed arrangements made by the provincial government unsatisfactory.
Majority of canals are choked despite neither major flood arrived nor heavy rain lashed out, he said.
"We would not leave the people of Sindh alone especially in this difficult time and we would make all out efforts to extend all support to them," he said.
Vice President PML-N Sindh, Shah Muhammad Shah said that the people were stranded in the low-lying areas of Indus River but nothing had been done so far to save them.
Vulnerable declared points of protective bunds at Indus River including Bhanoth are not being monitored, he said.
Senator Nihal Hashmi said that the party leadership was directed to set up the relief centres in each district of the province.
The PML-N is making all out efforts to provide help to the people in Sindh, he said, adding after visiting all protective bunds, a report would be submitted to the Federal Government.
