A large number of citizens including women and children thronged parks and recreational places on Sunday following the city received light rain, turning the weather pleasant and lovely. The areas, which received rain included Liaqatabad, Saddar, Malir, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Airport area, Baloch Colony, Gulistan-e-Jauhr, Shah Faisal Colony, Soldier Bazar, Clifton and others. The residents of the areas particularly youth came out of their homes to enjoy the pleasant weather following the rain.
Rush was witnessed at Mazar-e-Quaid, Askari Park, Sea view, Bin Qasim Park, and other picnic spots.
"The weather is absolutely pleasant and lovely today. It attracted me to come here with my family," said Muhammad Amir, who was waiting for an entry ticket in a long queue outside Mazar-e-Quaid.
"Normally I prefer to stay inside home when it is raining because due to the poor management and lake of planning by authorities concerned, the citizens face difficulties to make their ways during rain. However, the weather forced us to visit this lovely place, said a resident of Soldier Bazar, Feroz, who came along with his children.
With the first spell of rain, a large number of people also rushed to Sea view. It may be mentioned here that the city administration has already imposed ban on swimming at Sea view; but police remained unable to restrict the enthusiastic youth from going into the seawater.
Massive gridlock was also witnessed at the Clifton road leading towards sea view due to heavy rush of visitors. However the rain partially affected commercial activities particularly the business of 'Sunday Markets'. The shopkeepers of Liaqatabd market, Saddar, Light house, Korangi No-6, K-area etc had to close their stalls for hours due to rain.
The residents of various areas complained that they faced hours long load shedding following the rain. The most effected area were Safoora Goth, Kiran Hospital Road, Gulshan Block-1, Hazara Goth, Old Subzi Mandi, Soldier Bazar, Lines area, Korangi, Malir, F.B. area, North Nazimabad and Lyari.
