A Pakistani man working at the United State embassy in Islamabad was shot dead by unknown gunman on Sunday morning. Police identified the dead employee as Iqbal Baig, saying he worked for the US Drug Enforcement Agency. They say Baig was killed early Sunday morning at his home. Baig belonged to the Shia Imami Ismaili sect. It was not immediately clear who carried out the shooting and what was the motive behind the attack. The police said that US embassy security officials had visited the crime scene.
According to a spokesperson for the Islamabad police, the incident of firing took place at G-9/1 area of the federal capital. He said that a case of Iqbal Baig's murder has been lodged at the Karachi Company police station.
