Google Maps to also share your phone’s battery life along with your location

Google Maps is adding a new feature to its location sharing facility, which will now include the battery level of your friend whose information is received when they share their location with you.

Google Maps location sharing service could be used to ensure safety of friends and family. Within this service, Google Maps will now also include the friend’s battery level along with the set of data received by the one to whom location is shared, initially discovered by Android Police.

When a user shares their location with someone in the Google Maps app, it will show up on the receiver’s map. With incorporation of battery status, a new battery icon will show up right next to the distance, also showing a battery percentage along with indicating if the phone is on charge.

With this feature, it will be easy to keep check on friends and ensure their safety. This will also inform the receiver why someone hasn’t called them because of low battery as the receiver can easily keep an eye on the sender’s battery level, according to The Verge.

Apart from ensuring safety or helping prepare for an emergency case, this feature will also leave no room for excuses and people can no longer lie about their phones running out of battery.
