A murder convict was executed in Multan Central Jail on Tuesday. Murder convict Muhammad Akhtar, r/o Sarai Sadhu (Khanewal), had killed a person Saeed Ahmad in 1999 and an FIR was registered with Sarai Sadhu police station. Akhtar was shifted to Multan Jail from Vehari Jail in December 2011. He was executed after his appeals were rejected by the superior courts and his mercy petition was turned down by the President of Pakistan. His body was handed over to his legal heirs after the execution amid tight security arrangements.
