‘Mulk’ makers ask Pakistani censor board to reconsider decision of banning movie

Soon after Rishi Kapoor’s latest release ‘Mulk’ was banned in Pakistan, director Anubhav Sinha released a statement for Pakistanis and questioned the decision of country's censor board to ban the movie.

He tweeted the letter, which basically summarizes about how coexisting together in peace and harmony is crucial for both Pakistan and India.

According to a statement issued on behalf of the makers on Thursday, the Federal Censor Board of Pakistan has banned the film that revolves around restoring the honour of a Muslim family accused of treason.

Pakistan's Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC) Chairman Danyal Gilani told IANS, “Members of the CBFC unanimously decided not to approve the trailer of ‘Mulk’ as its contents flout the Censorship of Film Code, 1980.”

‘Mulk’ co-producer Deepak Mukut said, “We are disturbed by this prejudiced verdict and it's such an irony because our film talks about this very prejudice. We urge the Pakistani censor board to reconsider their decision. They will realise how essential it is to the well-being of the human race across the world,” Indian media reported.

The film stars Taapsee Pannu and Rishi Kapoor in a lead role. It has just hit the theaters today (August 3).
