The legal fraternity protesting against alleged misbehaviour of Justice Mrs Erum Sajjad Gull of Lahore High Court with President Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) on Wednesday announced to boycott her court proceedings. The LHCBA in its emergence meeting constituted a committee headed by former presidents of the bar to look into and resolve the matter.
LHCBA president Pir Masood Chisti talking to the media said they would continue their protest till ouster of Justice Gull or shifting her to territorial bench of the LHC in Multan, Bahawalpur or Rawalpindi. Earlier addressing the general house meeting, Pir Masood said the seat of president with him is a gift of the members of the bar and he wants to take any step after taking the house into confidence.
LHCBA secretary Ahmed Qayyum addressing the meeting said that the bar usually receive complaints of misbehaviour of judges with the lawyers but Justice Gull's behaviour with the bar president was 'extremely improper', and indecent. He said she insulted the mandate of the lawyers given to their president. Pakistan Bar Council member Azam Nazir Tarar said lawyers respect the judges and expect respect from them. He said Chisti is their representative and all lawyers are with him. According to the details given by the bar president that when he requested the judge to fix date for the relisted matter, the judge asked him that she already has relisted the case and she cannot take up the matter again.
