The South China University of Technology (SCUT), China and the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) inked a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate in the areas of academia and research to get benefit from each other experiences. According to agreement, National Institute of Food Science and Technology, UAF and Centre for Polymer from Renewable Resources School of Light Industry and Food Engineering, SCUT, will conduct the joint research and capacity building projects keeping in view the demands of ever increasing population and emerging challenges of 21st century.
MoU was signed by SCUT's Centre Director Professor Dr Long Yu and NIFSAT Director General Professor Dr Masood Sadiq Butt. The both parties will also collaborate in jointly organising courses, seminars, conferences and study tours, exchange of academic and professional staff and exchange of students. It was also agreed that the technical assistance will be provided by both parties for the development of active food packaging films to extend the shelf life of food and food products.
