According to un-official results, PTI is leading with victory in 35 district council seats followed by independent candidates in 19 seats, JUI-F in 12, ANP in six, and Jamaat-e-Islami, QWP and PML-N in three seats each.
In Tehsil council, independent candidates are leading with 18 seat followed by PTI in 14 seats, JUI in eight, ANP in seven, QWP in four, JI and PML-N in three each. Earlier, re-polling in the local government elections was held in over 350 polling stations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Polling began in 14 districts of the province started at 7:00 am and ended at 6:00pm in the evening.
Extra security measures were taken to ensure smooth elections. Police and army personnel were also deployed at each polling station to avoid mismanagement. Police arrested a woman in Takhtabad polling station in Peshawar's Dawoodzai area for attempting to cast fake votes. According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mian Saeed, police arrested the woman for having 45 fake voting ballots. The woman was arrested before she cast the fake votes and was shifted to Dawoodzai police station.
The re-polling was held in 29 polling stations in Peshawar, 88 in Nowshera, 45 in Charsadda, 42 in Mardan, 17 in Swabi, five in Kohat, four in Hangu, 70 in Karak, 30 in Bannu, eight in Lakki Marwat, eight in Dera Ismail Khan, seven in Abbottabad, six in Mansehra and one in Bunner district. Previously, local government elections were held across the province on May 30 but due to mismanagement, the polling was suspended and declared null and void by the election commission in some districts. More than a dozen people were killed due to clashes and poll-related violence.
