CAIRO: Egypt, the world's largest wheat importer, has reserves of the grain sufficient to cover the country's needs for four months, the supply ministry said in a statement on Friday.

It said Egypt aimed to purchase 6.5 million tonnes of wheat in the 2018-2019 financial year, and that it bought the same amount the previous year.

Egypt's fiscal year runs from July to June.
