At least 78 persons have been killed and 48 others injured, 1724 houses partially while 437 completely damaged in the recent torrential rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to statistics collected so far, 1030 and 250 houses have partially been damaged in D I Khan and Lakki Marwat respectively and 50 houses completely. Similarly, in Peshawar and Karak 145 and 100 houses have partially been damaged.
Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has directed the Deputy Commissioners of all districts for dispatching of immediate financial and relief assistance to the affectees of recent monsoon rains from the relief account of the PDMA. For worst affected district Lakki Marwat, the PDMA has already released an additional fund of Rs 10 million to the district administration, so there would be no delay of any kind in the relief operations.
According to a spokesman of the PDMA, Secretary Relief, Tariq Rasheed and Director General (DG) PDMA, Aamir Aafaq are themselves visiting the flood and rains affected districts. The affected districts of the recent rains and flood are included Peshawar, Abbottabad, Kohat, Karak, Charsadda, Bannu, Shangla, Battagaram, Swat, Dir Upper, Dir Lower, Tank, D I Khan and Buner. The spokesman said that Tochi Scouts Miran Shah have donated 40 tons of flour and huge quantity of pulses, which on the directives of DG PDMA has been sent for distribution amongst the flood-affected people of Lakki Marwat.
