Minister of State for Interior Muhammad Balighur Rehman has said that FC has been deployed in Harnai in Balochistan to protect coalmines where mining activity has resumed after a long time. He was winding up discussion on a motion in the Senate on Monday moved by Muhammad Usman Khan Kakar who alleged that the deployment of FC amounted to intrusion in the affairs of the provincial government autonomy.
The Minister of State said FC was deployed following an agreement in December 2014 and provincial director mines and minerals also attended the signing ceremony. He also pointed out that the provincial government has not lodged any complaint with the federal government about deployment of FC. Minister of State for Interior also told the House that the government has adopted zero tolerance policy towards the issue of fake certificates and degrees.
Winding up discussion on a motion moved by Saleem Zia on the issue, he said the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education has evolved a secured and well-respected procedure for issuance of certificates. It is effort of the government to upgrade standards of other boards to the same level. He said Higher Education Commission has also evolved an elaborate system for verification of degrees. Minister for Law and Justice Pervaiz Rashid told the House that the newly established National Commission on Human Rights is being facilitated to start its work.
Winding up discussion on a motion moved by Farhatullah Babar, he said its Chairman has been appointed and a temporary office provided to him along with necessary staff and logistic support. The commission would be accommodated in the old building of Federal Shariat Court which is being renovated. The Minister said a summary was moved to the Prime Minister for approval of terms and conditions for appointment of chairperson and members of the commission but withdrawn at the suggestion of the commission that it may be consulted on the matter.
